Back on the Bike

Quite literally I got back on the bike tonight. My stationary exercise bike that is. It has been about 4 months since I have ridden. And it was good to get back on, although my legs may have a different story to tell tomorrow.

This seems like a theme in my life lately. Things in life are changing, for the better, but changing nonetheless, and so I have to remember to keep doing things to take care of myself, both physically and spiritually.  Obviously physically I am going to ride my bike and start doing my shoulder exercises.

But spiritually in my relationship with God, it is more complex. I mean I can just read the Bible and pray (more like ask) for things I think are important, but that seems so superficial. So I am making a commitment to actually spend time with God, to seek Him and get to know the Creator. The following verses have been on my heart lately, just really making me think about my priorities. Because I truly believe we make time for the things we want to.

Jeremiah 9:23-24

23 Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;
24 but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD.

And that is what has been going on with me.

Noni Fun Fact: Today I rode 8.63 miles on my bike.

Sonic fun

All day I have been thinking about what I should blog about. Now don't get me wrong, I have accomplished quite a bit, such as cleaning the house and laundry, but it's been in the back of my head. And so far I have come up with nothing. Not a single thing.

I suppose I could relay my most recent Sonic experience. Every so often we get Sonic at work. I get everyone's order and head there. There are four of us. That means I need a drink carrier to get the drinks back.   And as I am sure you all know you have to ask for one. Well, I often forget to do that. And so Wednesday afternoon when the carhop came out, I thought to myself again that I had forgotten to ask. And he looks at me and says, "You forgot again didn't you? Failure."  Now I'm just saying that if the Sonic carhop says that there are one of two ways you can take it. First, wow, if he thinks that then I must be a failure. Second, wow, am I really going to let the Sonic carhop judge me like that?  All in all another fun adventure to Sonic.  And another delicious vanillia Dr. Pepper that I got to consume.

Noni Fun Fact: My favorite thing to eat when I am sick is a chicken strip basket from DQ.

I don't initiate good mornings

Some of you will find this very hard to believe, but I am not a morning person. I understand they are necessary, but I am not a fan. I need about an hour from the time I wake up to the time I have to interact with people, and even then it is not my favorite thing to do. If and when I am caught before my hour of being awake, my response is usually in the form of a grunt or other unrecognizable sound. I will also commit to doing things that I don't realize I am saying yes to, and so later in the day when asked if I did those things, I will look at you blankly and ask what in the world you are talking about.

So because of these reasons and because I find it unnecessary, I don't often initiate a 'Good Morning'. It's not my favorite if said to me, but I will usually say 'Mornin' back. Also I feel that if there's nothing else to say besides good morning, then we don't really need to be talking.

So here is my list of solutions to this morning problem:
1. Say 'Sup' instead.
2. A slight nod of the head to acknowledge each others presence.
3. A better attitude on my part.

I'm guessing that number 3 is the best option and I will try as such. So while I may not initiate a 'Good Morning' I will try harder to put a smile on my face and greet you back.
